Election Integrity and how Hanover County may be affected by The Save Act

198 Congressional Democrats voted against the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (Save Act) HR 8281 on July 10, 2024.  The Save Act passed 222 to 198 in the US House and now heads to the US Senate for final approval.  Although the Constitution of the United States explicitly denies voting rights to illegal aliens and non-US citizens from voting in our Federal Elections, the law is not strongly enforced in the US and many non-US citizens have been able to obtain voter registration.

Reports are now surfacing that non-US citizens in Hanover County have indeed become registered to vote in our upcoming state and federal elections.

The Save Act will strengthen Voter Integrity measures and make it harder for illegal aliens to register to vote, while still making it easy and seamless for American Citizens to register.  It is not a substitute for what is already written in our Constitution, but it merely includes commonsense measures of check and balances, currently not in place to ensure that states and the federal government are able to enforce our Constitutional rights that allow for only American citizens to determine the outcome of our elections.

Please contact our 2 US Senators or Senate offices to encourage them to put American citizens first and support The Save Act.
